Django Unchained Review

The Good:   There was blood, comedy, drama, and more blood. ALL of the actors did a phenomenal job.  Samuel L. Jackson and his "Stevie" character (may as well have been Uncle Rukus from the The Boondocks) will definitely have you either hating him or laughing. There is a lot of use of the N-word and such, but people must keep in mind that this movie was done with the intent of it being during one of the most UGLY times in American (if not even human) history...AND it was in the South of all places.

The Bad: I honestly had the hardest time finding something negative to say about the movie.

The Reason: I'd like to address all the controversy about this movie...(constant use of the N-word, physical abuse, and such) STOP it. All of that is unnecessary, and I'd say unfounded. There was more physical abuse in The Passion of the Christ, and probably just as many N-bombs in any Ice Cube Friday movie. And if someone were to mention the "race card" of a beaten black slave seeking revenge on evil slave masters, then I'd love to hear the out cry for the abused women in movies who are herald as heroines when they seek revenge on those who have done them wrong. ( Kill Bill, Enough, etc)

Simply great! Just think of Kill Bill meets Roots and that pretty much sums this movie up. This was yet another CLASSIC Quentin Tarantino film. This is a DEFINITE must watch. If racial issues bother you, you may want to steer clear of this. Buy it, download it, whatever. Just see this!

The Rating: 10/10

The Dark Knight Rises Movie Review (2012)

I must admit it took me some time to find the words to adequately review this. Let's start with the cons. It was not necessary to watch this in IMAX at all. There are no 3D special affects (surprisingly). There are a few scenes that are a bit predictable in their foreshadowing. Christian Bale's voice when he's Batman is STILL very unnecessary and is hard to understand without some captions. And that's about it, now to the PROS!

This movie had one of the most difficult tasks to over come which was to surpass it's predecessors. After the AMAZING and unforgettable performance from Heath Ledger as the Joker, the expectations were high. Well this movie delivered and then some! The Joker was indeed a deadly foe for Batman, but Bane made the Joker look a like Playschool basketball hoop for Michael Jordan! Now typically you may hear some complaint about how certain things didn't follow the comic story-line or what not, but this time the directors made the changes with a purpose beyond just for the sake of being creative. They made the small changes to keep you in suspense, throw unsuspecting plot twists, and to keep the movie going. As a comic book fan, I'll accept that for the greater good of the movie.

Ann Hathaway as catwoman was good, but not great. I still think that Michelle Pfeiffer has kept the title has the best Catwoman. Tom Hardy (Bane) did an excellent job at being a formidable enemy for Batman. This 3hr movie keeps you at the edge of your seat until the very end. The Dark Knight Rises has done what even the Matrix trilogy couldn't do. It ended better than it's previous installments AND the ending gave rise to a standing ovation in a packed theater. (Matrix 3 only left people saying "WTH was that?") The highest praise that I can give is the fact that this movie has done what many others haven lacked in the past. The story line was creative, it was original, suspenseful, action-packed, there were plot twists, and the character development was executed flawlessly. Batman or not, comic book fan or not, there's no way a SANE person would not enjoy this movie. Your Grandma will love this movie! With that said, and I could go on further...this is not a "Go See", or a "Must watch", it's a "Upgrade your life Right NOW"....10/10
